Let Us Live This Year with the Wisdom in Jesus Christ
We see from both the New and the Old Testaments, those unwise kings, generals, and government officials all failed overnight. Wisdom is the best. Of the many gifts that God gave us, the gift called time is the most precious. The reason we should value time is because it is a gift that God personally gave us. The humans live in time. The Psalmist confessed, “My times are in your hands” (Ps 31:15). We must save time. Our days may come to 70 years, or possibly 80, if our strength endures; yet they quickly pass like a dust particle that blews away with a wind when we reflect back. Particularly, the Christians live 52 weeks rather than 365 days. If so, how well did you live your life doing the good deeds for the will of God in a time that flies like an arrow? My beloved saints, we must work for food that will not spoil but will endure to eternal life (Jn 6:27). The Word of God which is the food that will not spoil, is our staple (Deut 8:3). The Daily Bread is the best. My beloved saints, we are sojourners. We have a homeland that we have to go to. Hence, we must be eager to do what is good (Tit 2:14, Eph 2:10). I would like you to think about your destination (Heb 11:13-16). As the time goes on, we were given a lot of opportunities, but we missed them all. It is said that we must “vale time and cherish every moment.” We must use every minute wisely. We cannot bring back the time that has passed.
I. We must make the most of every opportunity.
What should we do to save time? First, we must try to understand the will of the Lord. In order to make the most of every opportunity, we must know and make efforts to seek His will. All our times are missed if we do not find God’s will. We will end up wasting our time as we become self-centered and not God-centered. Second, we must not get drunk on the world or be fascinated by it. When it says, “Do not get drunk on wine” (Eph 5:18), it means not to be fascinated by the worldly things. We must not be fascinated by the worldly things such as women, alcohol, money, entertainment, dancing, etc. This world and the lust will all pass. My beloved saints, the sins you have committed in this world will all be revealed when you appear before God. All actions performed by the mankind, from the forerunner of the human race Adam to all human beings created since then, will be judged as they are revealed before a great company of the heavenly hosts and angels. We must remember that it was Abel’s blood that cried out to God from the ground when no one saw Cain struck and killed his brother Abel (Gen 4:10). However, the believers or those who have repented will go directly to heaven without being judged. On the contrary, those who do not believe will be thrown into the fiery lake of burning sulfur as soon as they die. My beloved saints, from now on, I would like all of you to have a good heart to invest time for the will of God rather than wasting it. Third, we must not be foolish. Being foolish refers to imprudence of a person who is “unwise and unable to make a good decision due to a lack of good sense or judgment.” Thus, we must not be fools but be wise to make the most of every opportunity (Eph 5:15).
II. We must have wisdom.
The most blessed man in this world is the one who is wise. The wise woman builds her house (Prov 14:1). On the contrary, the foolish woman brings grief to her family. A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son brings grief to his mother (Prov 10:1, 29:3). Solomon was a king who was blessed with wisdom from God. He became a king at an early age. Solomon asked God for wisdom to govern the great nation and discernment in administering justice. God was so pleased that He not only gave wisdom but gave wealth and honor that he did not even ask (1Ki 3:4-13). Solomon’s wisdom emerged when he governed. Two prostitutes gave birth to a boy 3 days apart. However, one baby died because a woman laid on him while she slept. She placed her dead son under the bosom of the other prostitute and took her living baby instead. As she woke up, she realized that this dead baby was not her baby, so she pleaded to the king (1Ki 3:16-22). Hence, the king commanded to bring him a ‘sword, ordered to cut the living child in half, and give it equally to the women.’ However, when he heard a woman whose son was alive was deeply moved out of love for her son and pleaded to the king ‘not kill her living son but give her baby to the other woman,’ Solomon knew she was his true mother and returned him to her (1Ki 3:23-27). When all Israel saw this, they held the king in awe, because he had wisdom from God to administer justice (1Ki 3:28). My beloved saints, in this year of 2022, I would like all of you to receive the wisdom that King Solomon received. That wisdom is in Jesus (Col 2:2-3). By faith, you can bring the wisdom in Jesus. I bless everyone in the name of the Lord that you will serve your husband, cherish your wife, rear your children, and make a wise decision in all things with that wisdom so that there will not be any worries or concerns in your households but live a blessed life God is truly pleased with.
Conclusion
My beloved saints, I would like all of you to come before God as you face the final battle in this wicked world and pray like Samson with a firm determination, “God! Please give me one more chance in 2022. Please give me wisdom. I will live the rest of my life righteous before God.” Hence, I sincerely hope that all of us will live with the wisdom in Jesus in 2022.
금년 한 해는 예수 그리스도 안에 있는 지혜로 살아가자
신구약성경을 통해서 볼 때, 지혜가 없는 왕이나 장군들, 방백들은 하루아침에 망했습니다. 지혜가 최고입니다. 하나님이 우리에게 주신 많은 선물 가운데, 시간이라고 하는 선물이 가장 귀합니다. 시간을 귀하게 여겨야 할 이유는, 그것은 하나님이 직접 우리 인생에게 주신 선물이기 때문입니다.
인생은 시간 속에서 삽니다. 시편 기자는 “내 시대가 주의 손에 있사오니”(시 31:15)라고 고백했습니다. 시간을 아껴야 합니다. 인생은 강건해야 70, 80을 삽니다. 그나마 지나온 생애를 돌아볼 때, 바람 불 때 먼지가 휙 날아가듯이 그렇게 시간이 지나갔습니다. 특히 그리스도인들은 365일이 아니라 52주를 살아갑니다. 그렇다면 화살처럼 날아가는 시간 속에서 하나님의 뜻을 위해서 얼마나 선한 일을 하면서 살았습니까? 성도 여러분, 영생하도록 있는 썩지 않는 양식을 위해서 일을 해야 합니다(요 6:27). 하나님의 말씀이 썩지 않는 양식, 곧 우리의 주식입니다(신 8:3). 일용할 양식이 최고입니다.
성도 여러분, 우리는 나그네입니다. 가야 할 본고향이 있습니다. 그러니 부지런히 선한 일을 해야 합니다(딛 2:14, 엡 2:10). 가는 목적지를 생각해 보아야 합니다(히 11:13-16). 시간이 흐름에 따라서 우리에게 많은 기회가 주어졌지만, 그 기회를 다 놓쳤습니다. 시간을 소중히 여기되, ‘촌음(寸陰)을 아끼라’고 했습니다. 단 1분도 가치 있게 사용해야 합니다. 가 버린 시간은 다시는 돌아오지 않습니다.
1. 세월을 아껴야 합니다.
어떻게 하면 세월을 아낄 수 있습니까? 첫째, 주의 뜻이 무엇인지 헤아려야 합니다. 세월을 아끼기 위해서는, 하나님의 뜻이 무엇인지 알고 찾으려고 애써야 합니다. 하나님의 뜻을 찾지 못하면 시간을 다 놓쳐 버립니다. 하나님 중심이 아니라 자기 중심이 되어 시간을 허비하게 됩니다. 둘째, 세상에 취하지 말아야 합니다. ‘술 취하지 말라’(엡 5:18)는 말은 세상적인 것들에 취하지 말라는 것입니다. 여자, 술, 돈, 오락, 춤 등 세상적인 것들에 취해서는 안 됩니다. 이 세상도, 정욕도 다 지나갑니다.
성도 여러분, 이 세상에서 지은 죄, 하나님 앞에 가면 다 드러납니다. 인류의 시조 아담부터 모든 억조창생 인간이 행한 일들이 천군 천사들이 보는 앞에서 다 드러나면서 심판을 받습니다. 가인이 아우 아벨을 쳐 죽일 때 본 사람이 없지만, 아벨의 피가 땅에서부터 하나님께 호소했던 것을 기억해야 합니다(창 4:10). 그러나 믿는 사람, 즉 죄를 회개하는 사람들은 심판에 이르지 않고, 즉시 천국에 갑니다. 반면에, 믿지 않는 사람들은 죽자마자 즉시 유황불에 들어갑니다. 성도 여러분, 이제부터 시간 도둑맞지 말고, 선한 마음 가지고, 하나님의 뜻을 위해서 시간을 투자하시기 바랍니다. 셋째, 어리석은 자가 되지 말아야 합니다. ‘어리석다’는 것은 ‘슬기롭지 못하여, 행동이나 판단을 바르게 하지 못한다’는 우둔함을 뜻합니다. 그런즉, 어리석음을 버리고 지혜 있는 자가 되어 세월을 아껴야 합니다(엡 5:15).
2. 지혜 있는 자가 되어야 합니다.
이 세상에서 가장 복된 사람은 지혜 있는 자입니다. 지혜로운 여인은 그 집을 세웁니다(잠 14:1). 반면에, 미련한 여인은 집안의 근심거리가 됩니다. 지혜로운 아들은 부모를 기쁘게 하나, 미련한 아들은 근심거리가 됩니다(잠 10:1, 29:3).
솔로몬은 하나님으로부터 지혜의 축복을 받은 왕입니다. 그는 어린 나이에 왕이 되었습니다. 솔로몬은, 큰 나라를 잘 다스리고 재판할 때 판결할 수 있는 지혜를 하나님께 구했습니다. 하나님은 그것이 너무나 기뻐서 지혜뿐만 아니라, 구하지 않은 부와 영광도 주셨습니다(왕상 3:4-13). 솔로몬의 지혜가 판결을 할 때 나타났습니다. 두 창기가 3일 간격으로 아이를 낳았습니다. 그런데 한 계집이 자다가 아이를 깔고 자는 바람에 아이가 죽었습니다. 그 계집은 죽은 아이를 다른 창기가 잠든 사이에 가져다가 옆에 두고, 산 아이를 가져다가 자기 품에 품었습니다. 그런데 딴 창기가 아침에 보니 죽은 아이가 자기 아들이 아닌 것을 알고 왕에게 호소했습니다(왕상 3:16-22). 그래서 왕은 ‘칼을 가져 아이를 반으로 나누어 둘에게 공평하게 주라’고 명령을 했습니다. 그런데 아이의 참어미가 마음이 타서, ‘죽이지 말고 산 아이를 저 여자에게 주라’고 호소하는 것을 듣고, 그가 참어미인 줄 알고 아이를 그 어미에게 돌려주었습니다(왕상 3:23-27). 그것을 본 온 백성이 영특하고 지혜로운 왕을 두려워했습니다(왕상 3:28).
성도 여러분, 2022년도에는 솔로몬왕이 받았던 지혜를 받으시기 바랍니다. 그 지혜는 예수 안에 있습니다(골 2:2-3). 예수 안에 있는 지혜를 믿음으로 가져오면 됩니다. 그 지혜로 남편을 섬기고, 아내를 받들고, 자식을 양육하고, 모든 일에 사리 판단을 정확히 해서, 모든 삶의 현장에 근심 걱정이 없고, 정말 하나님이 기뻐하시는 축복된 삶을 사시기를 주의 이름으로 축원하겠습니다.
결론
성도 여러분, 삼손처럼 최후 결전을 위해서, 악한 세상에 여러분들이 하나님 앞에 “하나님! 한 번만 2022년도에 기회를 주시옵소서. 지혜를 주시옵소서. 평생 내가 하나님 앞에 내가 올바르게 살겠습니다”라고 결심하시기 바랍니다. 그래서 2022년도에는 예수님 안에 있는 지혜로 살아가는 모두가 되기를 바랍니다.
