The Gift of God Received From the Days of Life (A lesson Learned From the Time)
A person thinks to him or herself at least once in their lifetime, “who am I?” or “what am I?” If a human whom we called the “lord of creation” says a such thing however, his value is already “zero.” This is because the value of a person that spoken of in the Bible is more precious than anything under the universe, and he was created to live eternally because he was created in the image of God. However, this man became worth less than the beasts because of sin and blemishes, and his dignity and value were not assessed properly today. Nevertheless, God loves us until the end (Jn 13:1) and wrote throughout the Bible for those who lost themselves due to sin and departed from Him to “return” to Him. At this time, I would like to share the grace of God together by examining the true value of man that the Bible is speaking of.
I. The value of a man is within the fact that he has rationality.
“Rationality” is defined in the dictionary as the “ability to logically think, reason, judge and act.” In the world of creation where it is divided by animal, vegetable and mineral kingdom, the human is the primus being. Of course, man is not comparable to the beasts in terms of physical performance. A man is slower than a tiger, cannot swim faster than a fish or fly like a bird. Moreover, his material value is also less than the beasts. We can sell a pig or an ox when it dies, but a corpse of a man cannot be purchased even with $10. However, there is “rationality” in man that can logically reason with the universe and with the problems that exist within it. That is why a man invented an automobile that is faster than a tiger, a submarine that swims faster than a fish, and the airplane that is faster than a bird. A man is a king, a priest, and a prophet before the creation. As you can see, there is always development, growth and progress in the world of humans, and thus are able to produce fruit as a result.
II. The value of a man is with the fact that he has faith.
There are scientific, philosophical and religious ways of life. However, a man cannot be completely satisfied in the world of science and philosophy. It is because the “rationality” of a man has been stained with sin, so it does not function properly. What this means is that it is the fault of an user or an inventor rather than a mechanical malfunction. Sin became a block between God and the man, hindering man’s thoughts and intellect. However, when the rationality that had been darkened with sin believes in Jesus, then it will be reborn in faith as a “new creation” within Christ (2 Cor 5:17). The Bible adamantly declares that whoever believes in Jesus will never perish but have eternal life (Jn 3:16) and that “there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). My beloved saints! The kingdom of God is the place we must go with faith. No matter what type of wicked sins we have committed, we will be saved once we repent and believe in Jesus (Eph 2:8). Moreover, this act of faith can only be performed by those who are created in the image of God.
III. A man has value when he lives according to the purpose that God created him for.
The reason that God created man was because there is a purpose that God is pleased with and desires. When a man is utilized according to that very purpose, he holds the best value. The first purpose of man’s existence is to glorify God. Jesus personally told us, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment” (Mat 22:37-38). Man exists because of God and he must live for God. Man had originally come from God (1 Cor 1:30), but he lost the Word of God because of sin. In order to resolve that sin and also to give us “wisdom, righteousness, holiness and redemption”, Jesus came to this earth. That is why Jesus must be the Lord of all. How we have become “what we are” is more precious than anything else, but we are worthless and useless if we are outside of Christ. Paul had a clear purpose that whatever he does, he does it for the Lord. That is why he said, “whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (1 Cor 10:31). He also stated, “If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord” (Rom 14:8) and “Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death” (Php 1:20).
Conclusion:
My beloved saints! Is there value in man today? The world assesses the value of a person based on authority, wealth and reputation. However, mankind are all equal beings to Jesus whether one is the president or a beggar. There is no discrimination in the heart of Jesus. He is the bundle of love, as well as the love itself. “What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?” (Mt 16:26). I would like all of you to believe that your life is precious, and that one and only life cannot be exchanged with anything under the heavens. A life is like a single round tournament where you ask if you believe or not. If you believe, it is eternal life, but you will lose the value of existence if you do not believe. At this time, I would like you to hear the Word of grace of Jesus who is urging us to “find the Word that was lost and return to the Father’s House again. Then I will reevaluate you as the most valuable lives!” Hence, I bless and earnestly petition everyone in the name of the Lord that you will find and bring back yourselves, parents, siblings, relatives and friends that have been lost.
천하보다 귀한 사람의 가치
사람이 인생을 살면서 한 번쯤은 ‘나는 누구인가? 나는 도대체 어떠한 존재이며 무엇인가?’라는 질문을 스스로에게 해 보았을 것입니다. 그러나 만물의 영장이라고 하는 인간이 그렇게 생각한다면 이미 그 값어치는 ‘제로(zero)’입니다. 성경에서 말하는 사람의 가치는 우주만물보다 귀하며, 하나님의 형상을 입어 영생할 수 있는 존재이기 때문입니다. 그러나 죄와 허물로 말미암아 짐승보다 못하게 되었고, 오늘날은 제대로 사람의 존엄성과 가치가 평가받지 못하는 시대가 되었습니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 하나님은 우리를 끝까지 사랑하셔서(요 13:1), 죄로 인해 자신을 잃어버리고 하나님을 등지고 떠난 인간들을 향해, ‘돌아오라!’고 성경 전체에 기록하고 있습니다. 이 시간, 성경에서 말씀하시는 사람의 참된 가치는 어떤 것인지 살펴보면서 주시는 은혜를 함께 나누기 원합니다.
1. 인생의 가치는 이성을 지님에 있습니다.
‘이성’이란 국어사전에 ‘사물의 이치를 논리적으로 생각하고 판단하고 행동하는 마음의 능력’이라고 기록하고 있습니다. 동물계, 식물계, 광물계 등으로 분류되는 피조 세계에서 인생은 으뜸가는 존재입니다. 물론 육체의 성능에서 인생은 동물보다 못합니다. 호랑이보다 느리고, 물고기만큼 수영도 못하고, 새처럼 날 수도 없습니다. 그리고 물질적 가치도 동물보다 떨어집니다. 소나 돼지는 죽으면 팔 수 있지만, 사람의 시체는 단돈 만 원 주고도 사지 않습니다. 그러나 인간에게는 우주와 그 가운데 있는 문제들을 판단할 수 있는 ‘이성’이 있습니다. 그래서 인간은 호랑이보다 빠른 자동차를, 물고기보다 빠른 잠수함을 새보다 빠른 비행기를 만들었습니다. 인생은 만물 앞에 왕이요, 선지자요, 제사장입니다. 이렇게 인간의 세계에는 항상 발전과 향상, 진보가 있고 결과적으로 열매를 맺습니다.
2. 인생의 가치는 신앙을 지님에 있습니다.
사람이 사는 형태에는 과학적 세계, 철학적 세계, 종교적 세계라는 세 가지 종류가 있습니다. 그러나 사람은 과학적 세계, 철학적 세계에서는 완전히 만족하지 못합니다. 그 이유는 인간의 이성이 ‘죄’에 더럽혀져 바른 작용을 하지 못하기 때문입니다. 기계 자체보다 그것을 만들어 사용하는 사람이 잘못되었다는 뜻입니다. 죄가 하나님과 인간 사이를 가로막아 내 생각과 두뇌를 아둔하게 만들었습니다. 그러나 죄로 인해 어두워진 이성이 예수를 믿기만 하면 믿음으로 그리스도 안에서 새로운 피조물로 재탄생합니다 (고후 5:17). 성경은 누구든지 예수를 믿는 자는 멸망치 않고 영생을 얻으며(요 3:16), “천하 인간이 구원 얻을 만한 이름은 오직 예수 이름밖에 없다” (행 4:12)고 단언하고 있습니다. 성도 여러분! 하나님 나라는 ‘믿음’으로 가는 곳입니다. 어떠한 흉악한 죄를 지었다 할지라도 회개하고 예수를 믿기만 하면 구원을 얻습니다 (엡 2:8). 또한 이 믿음의 행위는 오직 하나님의 형상을 입은 사람만이 할 수 있는 일입니다.
3. 인생은 하나님의 지으신 목적대로 살 때 가치가 있습니다.
하나님이 인간을 지으신 것은 인간을 향한 하나님의 기뻐하시고 원하시는 목적이 있기 때문입니다. 그 목적대로 사용될 때, 인간은 최고의 가치를 지닙니다. 사람의 첫째 존재 목적은 하나님을 영화롭게 하는 것입니다. “마음을 다하고 목숨을 다하고 뜻을 다하여 주 너의 하나님을 사랑하라” 이것이 크고 첫째 되는 계명이라고 친히 예수께서 말씀하셨습니다 (마 22:37-38). 사람은 하나님 때문에 존재하고 하나님을 위해서 살아야 합니다. 사람은 본래 하나님께로부터 나왔지만 (고전 1:30), 죄 때문에 하나님의 말씀을 잃어버렸습니다. 그 죄를 해결하고 우리에게 지혜, 의로움, 거룩함, 구속함이 되기 위해 이 땅에 오신 것입니다. 그렇기 때문에 예수님은 우리의 모든 것의 모든 것이 되어야 합니다. ‘나의 나 된 것’이 무엇보다 귀하지만, 그리스도 밖에 있는 ‘나’는 무용지물입니다. 바울은 모든 일을 ‘주를 위해 한다!’는 분명한 인생의 목적이 있었습니다. 그래서 “무엇을 하든지 다 하나님의 영광을 위하여 하라”(고전 10:31), “우리가 살아도 주를 위하여, 죽어도 주를 위하여 죽는다” (롬 14:8), “살든지 죽든지 내 몸에서 그리스도가 존귀히 되게 하려 한다” (빌 1:20)고 말씀하고 있습니다.
결론:
성도 여러분! 오늘날 사람의 가치가 있습니까? 세상은 권력, 돈, 명예로 사람의 가치를 평가합니다. 그러나 예수께는 대통령이나 거지나 똑같은 하나의 인격체입니다. 예수님의 마음에는 차별이 없습니다. 예수님은 사랑 덩어리이고, 사랑 자체입니다. “사람이 만일 온 천하를 얻고도 제 목숨을 잃으면 무엇이 유익하리요 사람이 무엇을 주고 제 목숨을 바꾸겠느냐?”(마 16:26). 인간의 생명을 최고의 가치로 평가하시는 것이 예수님의 사상입니다. 여러분들은 천하를 다 준다고 해도 바꿀 수 없는 단 하나뿐인 가장 귀한 생명이라는 것을 믿으시기 바랍니다. 인생은 ‘믿느냐? 믿지 않느냐?’하는 단 일 회전 경기입니다. 믿으면 영생이요, 믿지 못하면 자기 존재의 가치를 모두 잃어버리게 됩니다. 이 시간 “잃어버린 말씀을 찾고, 다시 아버지 품으로 돌아오라. 그러면 너희를 최고의 가치 있는 인생으로 재평가해 주겠다!”는 예수님의 은혜의 말씀을 들으시기 바랍니다. 그래서 잃어버린 내 자신, 잃어버린 나의 부모, 형제, 친척, 친구까지 모두 찾아오시는 여러분 되시기를 주의 이름으로 간곡히 축원하면서 부탁함을 드립니다.
