The Gift of God Received From the Days of Life (A lesson Learned From the Time)
God, whose plans for us and our redemption is unchanging and who is still seeking His lost image, is telling us that “now is the time for God’s favor, now is the day of salvation” (2 Cor 6:2). Moreover, He is urging us not to “receive God’s favor in vain” and is revealing to us that there is a clear reason for this and what is in His heart.
I. “Now” is the word of encouragement that reveals the time of the last gospel.
The time called “now” is a period of grace and redemption, and refers to the entire period of the New Testament, from the birth of Jesus Christ to just prior to his second coming. In a more narrow sense, it refers to one’s life span from birth to death. If we were to narrow it down even further, it refers to “this time” or “this moment”, where we receive the advice from the apostles. From the parables of the “vineyard”, which appeared in the book of gospels, the workers that were invited by the vineyard owner who left early morning to look for his workers is indeed in the time of “now.” The administration of His redemption is inevitable and pre-planned. Through the gradual processes called time, space, and history, the period of “now” is unfolding. Even if we do not believe it, God’s period of “now” is placed right before our eyes. The writer of the book of Hebrews said, “In the last days He has spoken to us by His Son” (Heb 1:1-2). The Word of the last days, the Word of Jesus, the Son of God, is contained in the period of “now.” It is said that we will all live when we leave everything and hear the voice of God and His Word spoken through His messengers as they alert us, “it is now’ (1 Cor 7:31, Heb 4:7). When the “set time” has fully come, Jesus was born of a woman (Gal 4:4) and personally said, “”Last of all, He sent His Son to them” (Mt 21:37). What this means is that “now” is the “last day” and this “Son” is the “Last Man.” It is telling us the time of the “historical end time.” That is why Apostle Paul said in his second letter to the people of Corinth, “Test yourselves to see Jesus Christ is in you,” because the favor of God is thought to be received in vain if there is no Jesus (2 Cor 13:5, Gal 6:7).
II. God remains the same and does not grow old.
It is stated in Heb 1:12 that God remains the same and His years will never end. It is also translated in RSV, “Thou are the same and thy ears will never end.” That is why God said, “I will love you” if you will only rely on Him and trust only in Him. Moses also said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul” (Deut 6:5). The household, the individual, church, people and the nation that loves God will not be destroyed. If we love God, He will safely guard our spirits. If our soul is well, we will also enjoy good health and all will go well with us (3 Jn 1:2). When our soul is well, then the entire family will be well, the businesses will be a success, and we will live under the attention of God and He will not look away. Our flesh needs food and water, but our spirit needs the Word of God. This God is the Sovereign God who administers according to His Will, and the God of power and authority (1 Sam 2:6-8 1, Chr 29:12). The reason why Enoch did not see death and went up to heaven is not recorded in Gen 5:21-24. However, it said in Heb 11:5, “…he was commended as one who pleased God.” Because Enoch was commended by faith as one who pleased God, he was taken up to heaven without seeing death. When there is jealousy, envy, slandering others, making unfair statements, deceiving others, theft, fraud and swindling others still present, do you think God will be pleased? The love that comes from God (Php 2:5) is the same. We will not die if we have a faithful heart. What this means is to crucify yourself on the cross with Jesus and live with a faith that believes in Jesus (Gal 2:20). This is the Word that the sojourners in the end times must grasp onto. We must see to an end. We should live with the mindset “today is my last day” and do many kind deeds (Eph 2:10, Tit 2:14). Our God said, “I have given you a short period of time. Please repent all your transgressions in this short time and seek Me.” Hence, it is stated that those who rely on God will be blessed (Psa 145:5).
III. The time is the valuable and important gift of God.
The reason that time becomes valuable and is an important gift from God is because it is the important day where mankind finds and meets God again in the time that they once lost. Because of sin, they lost the time and left God. We are receiving today’s message in this important time to meet God. It is because we have to pray and be filled abundantly with the Holy Spirit to understand the Word contained in the Old and the New Testaments, so that we can restore the eternal world (Rom 8:34). It was given in order for us to read, see, and understand the Bible, which is the Word of God. We must understand it on this earth and resolve it on this earth (Mt 18:18). If we do not seek God again in the time that is allotted for us, we will be destined to stand on the land of wrath forever. God is urging us that the time is directly related with our lives. We must understand the lesson that the time gives us. The time on this earth is the gift of God given to the finite and limited beings so that we can earn eternity of God. That is why we need to make the most of every opportunity (Eph 5:16). “Making the most of every opportunity” means to make every effort to bring back what was lost or at a distance, even if you have to compensate others. We must bring back even if we do not make any profit. It refers to an act of wisdom to pay the price of time, from the standpoint of conserving something that is in danger. I sincerely hope that you live a faithful life that is connected to eternal life of God by differentiating the time and not lose the opportunity.
Conclusion:
In order to live a wise life to make the most of every opportunity, I pray that we realize like David that we are finite sinners before God and pray like Moses to seek how to count days and lead us. Only through the face of God, His mercy, and compassion, the finite beings can restore eternal world. I bless everyone in the name of the Lord that we become wise and intelligent saints that glorify God with the thanksgiving by trusting only in the Word (and not doubting), by grasping on to it, and by understanding to accomplish the image of God (Rom 1:23).
세월 속에서 받는 하나님의 선물 (시간이 주는 교훈)
다윗왕은 평생, 우리아의 아내를 취한 죄 외에는 죄지은 적이 없다고 하나님은 말씀하십니다 (왕상 15:5). 침상이 젖을 정도로 눈물로 통회자복하고 죄 사함 받은 후에, 더한 존귀와 부와 권력, 명예를 주셨던 것입니다 (시 6:6). 또한 셋째 아들 압살롬을 피하여 맨발로 예루살렘 쪽 기드론 시내를 건널 때 말할 수 없는 수모를 당했습니다. 그 다윗의 고백이 본문 (대상 29:15)의 말씀입니다. 또한 시 90편은 위대한 광야의 영도자 모세의 고백입니다.
1. 인생은 나그네요, 우거하는 자입니다.
다윗은 인생 황혼을 맞이하면서 사랑하는 솔로몬에게 ‘세상 모든 사람이 가는 길로 가게 됐다’고 고백하고, 하나님 앞에서 큰 감사기도를 올리고 있습니다(대상 29:15). 물론, 하나님은 모세를 통해서 시내산에서도 똑같은 말씀을 하셨습니다(레 25:23). 인생은 나그네요 우거하는 자입니다. 인생은 예외 없이 이 땅에서 한 번 났다가 한 번 죽는 것은 정하신 것입니다 (창 3:19, 히 9:27). 우리는 모두 ‘세상’이라고 하는 공간과, ‘날’이라고 하는 시간에 관계되고 있습니다. 시간은 높이나 깊이, 넓이, 부피를 알 수가 없고, 그 크기를 측량할 수 없습니다. 오직 하나님의 섭리대로 시간은 흐릅니다. 그 이유는 시간은 하나님이 창조하셨고, 하나님의 선물이기 때문입니다. 창조의 비밀입니다. 시간은 하나님만이 경영하시는 인간 통치와 섭리의 도구이기 때문에 인간이 만들 수 없고, 빌려 쓸 수도 없고, 파괴할 수도 없습니다. 시간은 사람을 구속하고 지배합니다 (전 8:8). 우리 인생은 고향을 떠나 객지에서 여행 중에 있는 나그네입니다. 남의 집에 임시로 붙어사는, 우거하는 자로서 처량한 신세입니다 (욥 14:2). 곧 그림자와 안개처럼 머무름이 없습니다 (약 4:14, 잠 27:1). 그래서 늘 정신을 차리고, 시간 뺏기지 말고, 즉 기회 놓치지 말고, 잃어버린 시간을 다 찾아서 지혜롭게 살아야 합니다.
2. 하나님은 연대가 다함이 없고 늙지 아니하십니다.
히 1:12에서, 하나님은 여전하여 연대가 다함이 없다고 말씀하십니다. 공동번역은 “주님은 언제나 같으시고 주님은 영원히 늙지 않으십니다”라고 기록하고 있습니다. 그래서 하나님만을 의지하고, 하나님만을 믿고, 하나님을 사랑하면, 하나님께서 “내가 너를 사랑하겠다”고 말씀하십니다. 그러므로, 모세는 “마음을 다하고 성품을 다하고 뜻을 다하여 주 너의 하나님을 사랑하라(신 6:5)”고 했습니다. 하나님을 사랑하는 가정, 개인이나 교회, 국가, 민족은 망하는 법이 없습니다. 하나님을 사랑하면 우리 영혼을 지켜 주십니다. 영혼이 잘되면 범사가 잘되고 강건하게 됩니다 (요삼 1:2).
영혼이 잘되어야 온 가족이 잘되고, 사업도 잘되고, 하나님의 관심 속에서 살기 때문에 하나님이 외면하지 아니하십니다. 육신은 물과 식물, 곡식을 먹고 살지만, 이 영혼은 하나님의 말씀을 먹고 삽니다. 이 하나님은 임의대로 주장하시는 주권의 하나님이시며, 권세와 능력의 하나님입니다 (삼상 2:6-8, 대상 29:12).
창 5:21-24에 에녹이 왜 죽지 않고 올라갔는지 쓰여 있지 않습니다. 그런데 히 11:5에, 에녹이 이 땅에 있을 때 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 증거를 받았다고 말씀하십니다. 믿음으로 에녹은 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 증거를 받았기 때문에 죽이지 않고 살려서 하나님께서 데려가신 것입니다. 남을 시기하고, 질투하고, 모략하고, 억울한 말 하고, 사기⋅도둑질⋅협잡하는 이러한 것들 있는데, 이것이 있는 이상 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 증거가 되겠습니까? 주의 마음(빌 2:5)에서 나가는 사랑은 똑같았습니다. 이런 믿음의 마음이 있어야 죽지 않는 것입니다. 주와 함께 십자가에 못 박혀 죽고, 주 안에서 예수를 믿는 믿음으로 살라는 것입니다 (갈 2:20). 이것이 나그네 인생들이 마지막에 붙잡아야 될 말씀입니다. 날마다 끝을 보고 살아야 합니다. ‘나는 오늘 마지막이다’라는 마음으로 선한 일에 힘쓰는 백성이 되어야 합니다 (엡 2:10, 딛 2:14). 하나님께서 우리 인생에게 “야! 내가 너한테 짧게 시간 줬어. 짧은 시간에 죄 회개하고 날 찾아.” 그러니까 하나님을 의지하는 자는 복 받는다 (시 145:5)고 말씀하시는 것입니다.
3. 시간은 너무 값지고 중요한 하나님의 선물입니다.
시간이 너무나 값지고 중요한 하나님의 선물이 되는 것은, 인생이 시간 속에서 떠나보내고 놓쳐 버린 하나님을 다시 찾아 만나게 되는 중요한 날이기 때문입니다. 죄 때문에 시간을 놓쳐 버리고 하나님을 떠났습니다. 인생이 시간 속에서 떠나보낸 하나님, 놓쳐 버린 하나님을 다시 만나야 할 중요한 시기에 우리는 오늘 말씀을 받고 있습니다.
그것은 기도해서 성령 충만함을 받아서 신구약 말씀을 깨닫고 영원한 세계를 다시 찾기 위해서입니다 (롬 8:34). 하나님의 말씀인 성경은 보고, 읽고, 깨닫게 하기 위해서 주신 것입니다. 이 땅에서 깨닫고, 이 땅에서 풀어야 합니다 (마 18:18). 이 세상에서 주어진 시간 동안 하나님을 다시 찾지 아니하면 영원히 진노의 마당에 설 수밖에 없습니다. 시간은 그만큼 우리 인생의 생명과 직접 연관된 것을 우리한테 말씀하고 있는 겁니다. 시간이 주는 교훈을 깨달아야 합니다. 제한된 유한성의 존재인 인간에게 하나님의 영원성을 얻을 수 있도록 주신 하나님의 선물이 바로 이 땅의 시간입니다. 그래서 세월을 아끼라고 했습니다 (엡 5:16). 세월을 아낀다는 것은 잃어버린 것이나 멀리 있는 것들을 다시 찾아서, 보상해서라도 찾아오는 것입니다. 밑지고라도 노력해서 다시 찾아와야 합니다. 위험에 처한 것을 주의하여 보존하는 입장에서 찾아오는, 세월의 값을 지불하고 사는 지혜로운 행동을 말합니다. 누구에게나 인생에게 한 번은 꼭 찾아오는 다이아몬드 같은 보석이 있습니다. 때와 기회, 곧 때를 분별하고 기회를 놓치지 말고 하나님의 영원한 생명과 연결돼 있는 믿음의 삶을 사시기를 바랍니다.
결론:
세월을 아끼는 지혜로운 삶을 살기 위해서 다윗처럼 확실히 하나님 앞에 유한한 죄인임을 깨닫고, 모세처럼 자기의 날 계수함을 가르쳐 주시고 나를 인도해 달라고 기도하시기 바랍니다. 오직 하나님의 얼굴과 하나님의 긍휼, 하나님의 자비만이 유한한 인생을 통해서 영원한 세계를 회복할 수 있습니다. 우리에게 주시는 말씀 믿고 의심치 않고 잘 붙잡고, 믿고, 깨닫고, 알아서 하나님의 형상을 이루시는 가운데 감사로 하나님께 영광 돌리시는 지혜롭고 영특한 성도 모두가 되시기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다 (롬 1:23).
