What are the Special Attributes of the Works of the Holy Spirit During Pentecost?
Acts 2:1-8

From v1 of today’s scripture text where it says, “When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place,” we can see that gathering in one place with a unified heart is the driving force of all growth and development, and the church is the center and the heart of all gatherings. We will experience blazing Works of the Holy Spirit when the Word of God is the heart of all our gatherings. Through today’s scripture text, I sincerely hope that we understand the special attributes of the Works of the Holy Spirit during Pentecost so that we can bear the fruits of personal experience.

I. The Holy Spirit of Pentecost was upon the “ears” like a violent wind.
It is stated in v2 of today’s scripture text, “And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.” This denotes that the Holy Spirit was heard through the “ears.” By hearing with confidence that the sounds from the heaven which resembled the sound of the violent rushing wind or the sounds of the Holy Spirit, they clearly experienced the Holy Spirit that they cannot even think to deny. This is the fulfillment of the Word in Acts 1:4-5 that Jesus “will baptize you in the Holy Spirit.” Those who proclaim and teach the Word of God must have the clear experience of the Holy Spirit first. As it is stated in Acts 8:14-17, “when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the Word of God, they sent them Peter and John, who came down and prayed and began laying their hands on them, and they were receiving the Holy Spirit,” when the servant of God who personally experienced the Works of the Holy Spirit proclaim the Word, those who listen will receive the Holy Spirit as well. It was likewise with the family of Cornelius in Acts 10. Thus, even if one had already received the baptism by water, he has to receive the new baptism, the baptism of the Holy Spirit that Jesus gives. There must be the grace like Living Water, experience like blazing fire, and the personal experience of the works of the Holy Spirit like oil. Those who receive this new world surely will hear the voice of heaven. It is stated in Acts 9:4, “He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” Here, it was clear that the works of the Holy Spirit came through the “ears.”

II. It was upon the “eyes” like the strong wind.
It was stated in Acts 2:3, “They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.” What this means is that the works of the Holy Spirit was strongly visible in the eyes of the people. Furthermore, such experience did not come upon the specific people but was upon 120 people simultaneously. Thus, they were able to confidently walk on the path of faith with no need to hear or learn from others but with personal experience that they heard, saw and touched them individually. Without such strong experience of the Holy Spirit, the people will be like an empty pods or shells without the seed swaying back and forth. When the people believe without receiving the Holy Spirit, it is only loud with clanging sounds without fruits but when they receive the Holy Spirit, they will initiate their own diligence because the Holy Spirit works and leads them so they will work with willing hearts without grumbling, complaining or blaming. Paul and Silas were falsely accused, imprisoned and flogged while they proclaimed the gospel; but all the prisoners heard them when they prayed and sang praises (Acts 16:25). When the prisoners heard it, they encountered the great experience of “Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.” As you can see, when a person who received the Holy Spirit spoke, everything becomes calm and even like how the bulldozer plows the ground to make it flat. Everywhere that those who received the Holy Spirit set their feet in, the work is initiated, the transgressions of the darkness runs away, and will enable that only the bright light of heaven will be filled. It is stated in Act 9:3, “As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.” As you can see, the Holy Spirit of Pentecost worked strongly on the eyes as well.

III. It worked strongly on the mouth.
It is stated in Acts 2:4 of today’s scripture text, “All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.” This shows that the Holy Spirit of Pentecost came strongly upon the mouths of the believers as well. It is not like the apostles had the time to study or to learn many languages so that they spoke in various languages. The Holy Spirit enabled them to understand instantly and when the Holy Spirit took on the body of the apostles and worked within them, it was manifested as different tongues. Even though they say they worked diligently in a place they were standing, it was ultimately the Holy Spirit who worked within them. There can be many people who water the plants, who sow and take care of the plant and tend it, but it is God who performs the most important task of flourishing it. The Holy Spirit enabled the man to sit where a man cannot even think to sit, allowed him to stand in a place what a man cannot even imagine to stand, and enabled him to go to places that it unthinkable to man. However, because the Holy Spirit will be with us wherever we go and will not depart from us, we are able to enjoy the blessing of peace with thanksgiving to God. That is why Paul said he is in Jesus although he was in prison. We see that there are huge differences in the level of thinking and the conduct between those who received the Holy Spirit and who didn’t.

Conclusion:
If the work of the Holy Spirit of Pentecost has worked strongly through the ears, eyes and the mouths of the believers, we must receive the Holy Spirit and pray in Spirit on all occasions (Eph 6:18), During the End times, those who received the Holy Spirit will be separated from those who did not. The principle of “Let the one who does wrong continue to do wrong; let the vile person continue to be vile; let the one who does right continue to do right; and let the holy person continue to be holy” as it is recorded in Rev 22:11 will be applied here that those who received will continue to receive and those who did not receive will continue to not receive.
